Al Azraq Municipality, located about 100 km east of Amman on the desert fringe, covers around 1,600 square kilometers and holds strategic importance in eastern Jordan. Known for its historical and archaeological sites, the district is also recognized as a significant water basin, situated about 525 meters above sea level. While predominantly desert, the area supports agriculture through groundwater and rain-fed methods, with the northwest receiving more rainfall than the drier southeast, making it a focal point for development projects in tourism, agriculture, and industry.
